Flowerfete Depot Manager / Supervisor
Job Title: Depot Manager / Supervisor.
Based: Faversham, Kent.
Reporting To: Managing Director.
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the smooth day to day running of the Faversham Depot which has 6 operating vehicles and cover the South East corner of England, ensuring that all company criteria are met including, customer service, sales and waste budgets, profit budgets, administration, staff control and direction, equipment control and care including vehicles and communication with all departments of the company with timely reporting and information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and develop an excellent team of merchandisers and relief merchandiser.
- Ensure that all customers are visited on an appropriate cycle and that all merchandisers carry adequate and appropriate stock to ensure that sales are maximised and waste is kept to an absolute minimum.
- Through regular communication with the team ensure that all promotions are actioned and that sufficient stock is available.
- Issue to staff monthly sales and waste budgets, informing on a regular basis of progress, supporting them to enable achievement.
- Communicate with and build excellent commercial relationships with customers and their staff. Enthuse and motivate them to promote Flowerfete products.
- Through planned regular accompaniment with merchandisers make them totally efficient in their role by assessment, coaching, motivating and controlling their activities.
- Ensure the economical running of the depot by constantly monitoring and checking costs of supplies and running costs of vehicles along with efficient planning of routes.
- From time to time cover merchandiser’s rounds during holidays and sickness.
- Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions and colleagues necessary to perform duties and aid business along with organisational and personal development.
- Increase the customer base by visiting potential customers and leads, presenting Flowerfete ‘The Company’, assess the value of the business and secure at the appropriate margins.
- Listen to and resolve customer’s complaints regarding products or services.
- Complete all company administration, reports and records with total accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain stock control of product, point of sale equipment and ancillary equipment.
- Ensure that all company vehicles are kept clean and tidy inside and out and that all accidents are reported promptly and according to company procedures. Ensure that weekly vehicle checks and top ups are carried out and that vehicles are serviced in accordance with manufacturers handbook.
- Represent the company in a professional and positive manner at all times.
SCALE AND TERRITORY INDICATORS
The company provides a wide range of fresh flowers and plants via a van based merchandised service, customers being serviced on a twice weekly basis. We are also establishing a non horticultural business but still aimed at our core business customers. This consists of a continually evolving range of impulse driven, value for money promotional products with R.S.P’s typically below £6.00. Customers consist of petrol forecourts, convenience stores, motorway service areas, hospitals and small supermarkets. All products are sold on a sale or return basis.
The number of customers on a territory / Van area is flexible and dependant on the density of the geographical area. The typical number would be 50. There are currently six vans operating from Faversham, and 1 relief merchandiser.
PERSONAL PROFILE
Personality: Self-driven, results orientated with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Commands respect from reportees and shows them respect at all times whilst remaining in charge and gaining their full support and commitment. Mature, credible and comfortable in dealing with customer principles and managers. Reliable, tolerant and determined, empathetic communicator, well presented and business like. Sufficiently mobile to travel up to a few days a month within the UK. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team player.
Personal Situation: Must be mature and domestically secure. Able to work extended hours occasionally when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence.
Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate with others to convey information effectively, giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
